Your spreadsheet isn’t a prompt. Here’s what happens to it.
Plain answers to the questions people ask before they let an add-in touch a business workbook. The legal version is the Privacy Policy; this page says the same in fewer words.
The changes are made by the panel inside your Excel. Your workbook file is never uploaded.
What leaves Excel?
- Your message and the earlier messages of the same chat.
- An overview of the workbook: sheet names, sizes, table and column names, a few sample rows, formulas, colours and rules.
- The cells Cellify reads to do the task, for example the column it cleans or the range it sums.
- Files you attach (PDF, CSV, Excel, pictures).
- A short web search query, only when a request needs outside data such as an exchange rate.
Where is it processed?
Our server runs on Google Cloud Run in the United States (us-central1). The AI model is Google Gemini on Google Vertex AI, which may answer from any of Google’s regions. Transfers from the EU are covered by Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Is it stored?
- On our servers: no. Each request is processed and forgotten. The chat lives in the panel in your Excel and is gone when you start a new chat or close the panel.
- At Google: Vertex AI keeps a short-lived copy in its cache so repeated requests are faster; it is deleted within 24 hours. Google may also log requests to detect abuse of its service. Web search queries are kept by Google for up to 3 days.
Is it used to train AI models?
No. We do not train models, and under Google Cloud’s terms Google does not use data sent through Vertex AI to train or fine-tune its models without the customer’s permission. We have not given that permission.
What does Cellify keep?
- Your account: Microsoft account ID, email, plan and the message counter.
- Favorites and panel colours you save.
- One record per message with numbers only (steps, model tokens, cost, error codes), deleted after 35 days.
- Server logs (address, time, endpoint, result code), deleted after 30 days.
- What you send us with “Write to us” in the panel. The steps of your last request are included only if you tick the box.
Nobody at Cellify sees your workbook content: our own console shows counts and costs, never cells, formulas or messages.
What happens when I delete my account?
On the account page, “Delete My Account and All Data” removes your account, favorites, colours and sessions at once and cancels a card subscription bought on cellify.app. A Microsoft Marketplace subscription is cancelled in your Microsoft 365 account. The per-message number records expire on their own within 35 days.
Can Cellify change my workbook without asking?
It changes only what you asked for. Before it deletes or overwrites anything, it shows exactly which cells, columns or sheets and waits for your click. After the answer, “Undo these changes” reverses the request.
